In November 2019 I rented out a two-bedroom terraced house in Hele,
Torquay to two brothers,
Curtis and Troy Timms at a rent of £640 per month and for about
6 months everything was fine. In June 2020 the problems with rent-paying
began. I started getting lame excuses from Troy, his boss hadn't paid
him when he was supposed to - about three times, he was going to call
me but lost my number, he was going to sell his van and give me the
money, he was going to come round my house with cash, in July he told
me he would have the arrears cleared in August. None of it ever happened.
To the best of my knowledge both brothers worked continually through
lockdown so they couldn't use that as an excuse but they still took
full advantage of the Covid eviction ban.
When they finally vacated the house in September 2021 I had to spend
£3500 getting it back into a lettable condition not including
the loss of rent in the 2 months I spent refurbishing it.
When I told them I would be making this page public their mother bailed
them out by paying £50 per week but that stopped in May 2022
and I haven't had a penny since.
